Thus is a new name introduced to Fairlight
audiences - that of Mr. Alan Ayckbourn. It is a name that would
become well known and loved as scripts by this prolific playwrite
began to be made available to amateur groups around the country.
This particular play was first produces at the Library Theatre,
Scarborough, in 1974, with a cast including Peter Bowles, Pat
Heywood and Richard Briers. Clearly, this is a script with
pedigree.
I believe I am right in saying that four
out of the six cast are making a debut in this performance,
including Audrey Rayner, having been coaxed onto the stage at last,
some 15 years after she started helping out with props and decor.
That's probably a record, but in the end, I'm sorry Audrey,
but resistance is just
futile. |
